As you may already know, Sonic Generations has been out for quite a while now. No doubt many of you who bought it have already finished the game and shelved it.
However, for those who decided to purchase the PC version of the game, you may be delighted to know there is a reasonably active modding community for the game. Most mods consist of character skins or tweaks to certain mechanics. But I was quite surprised when I found one particular mod. The Unleashed Project.
Some very resourceful people have actually managed to port all of the daytime stages from the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed and made them fully playable in Sonic Generations.

I only ever played the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed, so it is nice to be able to experience the HD Sonic stages without being gated by tedious medal collecting, boring RPG elements and that damn werehog!
If any of you have the PC version of the game, I highly recommend you download it. Also, don't worry about needing a souped up gaming rig like mine to play it. There is a low end version of the mod that tones down the graphics in favor of better performance.

While you're at it, be sure to check some of these other mods too.

sadly, no sonic cd levels were in the game or any mods of sonic cd level remakes.

I haven't been able to play "Sonic Generations" yet (mainly because it wasn't even released on the Nintendo Wii), but I plan on getting it once I'm able to get myself an Xbox 360 sometime next month. I've heard everyone say this game is really great, and I've been wanting to play it for a long time now, since I'm quite a fan of the Blue Blur as well. :)

Just a word of warning, you can't mod games on Xbox 360 or the PS3. These mods only apply for the PC version of the game.

Yeah. They're basically downloadable content to add new skins and levels to the game. Check the links I posted in the journal for examples.

That does sound very interesting, but I'm sure I'll be able to enjoy the Xbox 360 version of the game nonetheless. :)

I thought the game was decent, a lot better than Sonic and the Secret Rings if you ask me. Though, it wasn't the best Sonic game.

you got it bro, that part where they said they spent a year developing this was a clever ruse, they actually only spent a few months making a fake trailer, and a malicious virus. [/sarcasm]

you should be fine if you are careful and download the file you need, from a respected reputable location. don't be downloading any livid download manager or some crap. you need the .zip, .rar, or .7z file (whatever format it is) and nothing else.

[link] This is the link i'm downloading from

unless you're specifically talking about downloading a .torrent file, which the previous link is not so no worries, but i would download a program called Peerblock. it blocks a lot of unwanted IP addresses from connecting to your computer. i'd always have this running if you're getting a torrent.

Now, if your problem with downloading it is, your computer has a hard time running generations and you feel that running this mod will make the game run worse, and be unplayable, then that is a totally legitimate argument.

So good of a mod, you had to make two journals about it. *shot*

Are you also using SonicGMI to handle the mods?

I would recommend downloading SonicGMI then. It helps manage your mods and helps keep your original game files intact.

Don't worry about breaking anything. All mods are downloaded into a separate folder using a mod installer so you can easily remove them if you no longer wish to use them. Just make sure you read the instructions.
