Getting some animation practice in as well as making a new icon for myself. I do still like my current Malice icon, but I could really use a new one. After several hours, I managed to come up with this. I'll be adding colour to it after work tomorrow. In the meantime, please let me know what you think of it so far.
This is a really good animation, but that much is clear. The side view is a nice starting point in the animation, and the swift turn looks very fluid. And at the end, Malice's ears twitching is a nice touch that removes any little bit of boring this could be perceived to have. My only gripes are that first of all, the earrings vanish the moment she starts turning. best fix that before you finish it up. Lastly, it doesn't loop. This isn't a real issue of any sort, and I'm not sure how you would go about making it look good as a loop anyways, but it would be even better if it were made to loop well.
Stars: Vision: Good, but there isn't any large amount of concept in the animation. Originality: Your character, your idea, not a copyrighted species like a pokemon. Technique: You've got the mastery of animation down, but your organization caused you to lose the earrings half way through. Impact: As awesome as this is, it's certainly not an emotional piece.
The way her head bounces up a little before she winks seems kind of over-exaggerated, but I suppose that's just an anime style kind of thing. Also, her earrings disappear, but it looks like you fix that in the final version.
